New favorite store!

So I had seen pictures of The Lucky Knot on Pinterest, and really wanted to go there. I had a feeling, though, like most preppy stores, that it wasn't near me. I looked it up, though, and was shocked! They opened a store in Old Town Alexandria, which wasn't that far from my house! For my birthday my friends and I headed down there to check it out, and the moment I stepped through the doors, I had a mini heart attack. A preppy could die in here, it was so perfect. Bins of koozies, shelves and shelves of preppy tees, racks with these gorgeous dresses and tables scattered with jewelry and Lilly items. I wanted to go crazy! I had just got a bunch of stuff for my birthday, so I limited myself, but I know when I return soon, my wallet will get a nice workout. Check it out!

I'm in love with this store! When I told the checkout lady where we were from, she gasped. "Your'e kind of close, but forty minutes is still quite a trip! You came all the way out here for us?" When I explained it was my birthday, she immediately pulled out a box of stickers. She gave us each (there was five of us) six preppy stickers and thanked us for coming. The atmosphere was great-- all of the ladies were dressed impeccably, were so polite, and loved to help pick out the perfect item. I worry for this store, because it is so close to the water, it gets flooded a lot. The store in that location before them, not too long ago, pulled out because it got too flooded (see below)
I want The Lucky Knot to succeed, and in no way am I promoting them because they asked me. I just really love the store and think you should definitely check it out! They have stores in Alexandria, Va, and in Annapolis, MD. I love you lucky Knot!

Thoughts to ponder

Hey, Y'all! Sorry I have been neglecting this blog lately, but I'm a person too, you know. Anyone who juggles sports and school would know that! Anyway, I just wanted to take a break from fashion lately to post some quotes. It's a busy time of year, and somehow these quotes kept me sane. Just like people wear those WWJD bracelets, all of us need to keep these quotes in mind throughout the day. Here we go!
This one is so true. Everyone nags at everyone about wasting time. You may not be the best a a sport, but if you love it, it's not wasted time. Life is short, they say, so live it to it's fullest. If you enjoy what your'e doing, you are doing something right.
This one rings so true, especially to preps. I get grief about how come I dress up so much, blah blah blah. Some people get a thrill putting on lipstick, wearing bright dresses and playing with jewelry. You should never be ashamed of loving to look nice.
Just say yes. Saying yes will never take you down the wrong road. Well, besides drugs;) saying yes opens doors. Everything happens for a reason, as my mom says.
This quote is really beautiful to me. It shows that no matter what people think of you, life goes on, and it will be wonderful.
I love this one. It's so true! You won't ever remember these people again, so don't let them bring you down for one minute. They may not be better than that, but you are.
And finally, my favorite. This quote speaks to me because some people say I'm crazy. And you know what? I am! I like to joke, laugh, and be silly and loud. Around some people I am, and with other people I'm quieter. But you know what? Those I am crazy around love me for it. Never has anyone told me, "wow, I love how quiet and boring you are." No way! Be silly. There's nothing wrong with having a good time.

Vesting of the week

It's way to warm to be wearing a vest, but seeing all of these excursions is making me nostalgic for fall. Time to get those vests ready, because the moment october hits the herringbone will be everywhere. This is the cutest combo I've seen all week! That pop of pink is in for all seasons, apparently. Ahh, fall days. School may come with it, but at least you'll be the best dressed in class!

Simply Summer

Hey, Ya'll! It's been a long time since I posted, due to swim team, vacations, lacrosse, and high school sport tryouts. Although I'm busier than ever, I had to squeeze a post in. Some posts you'll possibly see in the future-- DIY preppy shirts, closet makeover, healthy snacks, birthday haul, and of course fashion. This week I've had field hockey tryouts all day, so when I come home I want nothing more than to relax. It was so pretty late afternoon, and I decided to water the plants and just enjoy the scenery. Summer may be almost over, but I'm going to darn well enjoy it! I've been loving these Simply Natural sparkling drinks. They have all sorts of flavors, and I like mango and cherry. It's healthy, yummy, and better than soda. perfect for the summer!

Striped and Jeweled

This outfit is really cute and totally me! I got this wonderful, beautiful, detailed high quality statement necklace in ballerina pink. Guess where it's from? Walmart! Yes, Walmart, land of overalls and thermal fashion, had an entire wall of statement necklaces. They were all originally ten dollars, but most were on sale for five dollars. I got it just to see how it would hold up, and it's been a while and it looks really good. Not JCrew quality in the long run, I'm predicting, but it works. The top is from Merona, and the navy chinos are from JCrew.

Until next time! <3 Claire

Fourth of july inspiration

This upcoming fourth, I need a red, white and blue outfit for bbq cookouts and beach adventures. These outfits are so cute, I cant pick. I'll post what outfit I finally decide on. Comment which one is your favorite.

For a fancy fourth party
For a patriotic beach walk
For a casual bbq

Preppy Decor

Summer is in full swing and my room is officially a mess. Swimsuits litter the floor, there is empty shopping bags everywhere, and I haven't vacuumed my carpet in at least three weeks. I need some preppy inspiration, hoping my PBteen method will kick back in(My PBteen method is where I look at the catalogs, get inspired, then promptly head upstairs to clean my own room). These colorful bedrooms, bathrooms, and sitting areas sure do inspire me, and hopefully you, too.

Favorite Places

If you can't decide where to go on summer vacation, I've got you covered. Here are my top three favorite places in the United States. Enjoy!

1. Middleburg, Virginia
Middleburg is my absolute favorite place ever, and I'm not just saying that because I live nearby. I have so many good memories of eating at the adorable restaurants and delis, going to the annual Middleburg Christmas Parade, shopping, going to wineries, and growing up. The cute Red Fox Inn, pictured above, is the best place ever, and where I tried George Washington's favorite peanut soup. The butcher shop, also above, is where my dad goes often. The new Salamander Resort is now really popular, and take it from me, super cute and relaxing, too. Middleburg is known as Horse and Wine country, and it is. There is tons of wineries that my parents enjoy, and the Middleburg Fox Hunt is a big deal. Every Christmas during the parade, all the hounds and horses parade down the street. There is preppy, plaid and Ralph Lauren sporting people walking cute dogs everywhere, and it's a preppie's home as well as my own.

2. Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is my other home away from home. Every summer we take a trip to the Carolina's, and Charleston is one of my favorite stops. The lush, green grass, colorful georgian-style houses, cobblestone streets, and, of course, King's Street, are among the reasons Charleston is one of the best places on earth. The preppiest shops and highest rated restaurants line King's Street, and the fashion is crazy, as you can tell by my-preppy-even-as-a-kid vineyard polo dress and Lilly dress. I recommend SNOB for lunch, Magnolia's for dinner, and on a fancy night, Hall's Chophouse for a friendly, delicious, but expensive steak night.

3. Newport, Rhode Island

This town is perfect for all of the sailing type preppies. My dad's friend lives here, so we stay at their house and explore Newport. There is some crazy mansions, including the Rockefeller's other home, the first picture I listed. There is great shopping, eating, and beaching. I got tons of seaside-prep stuff here, like monogrammed jewelry, anchor and knot bracelets, and vineyard vines clothes. Newport is perfect.

Well, I know this was a long post, but those were my favorite places in the USA. Well, I'm off. See you later!

Black Milk, Spunk, and Gossip Girl

This afternoon I made myself some black milk and sat down to catch up on Gossip Girl. Black milk is my version of chocolate milk, which has so much syrup in it, it looks black. I transferred it into my monnogrammed Tervis tumbler and wasted my day away. Yes, I am so silly for not watching Gossip Girl earlier, but I never saw the big deal. Now I'm hooked, obviously, and admire everything about the show. I think we could all use a little Serena, Blair, and Jenny every now and then. School is almost out, so I don't even feel guilty just sitting and doing nothing. I'm wearing these super cute spandex from a company called Spunk. They come to all of our lacrosse tournaments, and I have a pair of these super cozy shorts in all diffrent preppy patterns. I also purchased the matching crab headband, btw. Well, I got to get back to the Upper East Side, but have a preppicul night and I'll talk to you later. See ya!

OOTD

This outfit pictured above is perfect for any spring or summer outing. I wore this to eat lunch out, but  this adorable outfit is perfect for a BBQ, boardwalk stroll, or picnic. It's perfectly preppy and casual without being too laid back. The top is from Jcrew, the bottoms from Old Navy, headband from Five And Below the shoes are Jack Rodgers. I love this simple outfit and can tell it will be a summer favorite.
